January 12, 2024
Joy News, in collaboration with Ecobank, successfully orchestrated the 14th edition of the Habitat Fair, hosted at the prestigious Accra International Conference Centre (AICC). The overarching theme for this year’s Habitat Fair was “Homeownership: Affordability, Comfort, and Luxury,” spanning five days from November 23rd to 26th, 2023. The deliberate flexibility in the schedule aimed to cater to the convenience of guests and potential customers, allowing them to choose their preferred day of attendance. The inauguration of the Ecobank Joy News Habitat Fair was conducted in partnership with Lawyer Kwame Gyan, a distinguished authority in land law. Lawyer Kwame Gyan conveyed his sincere appreciation to the event organizers, even canceling five hours of his lectures to honor the unique invitation.
Before the grand launch at AICC, the organizers arranged symposiums and workshops for exhibitors and sponsors. A noteworthy webinar, themed “Homeownership: Build the Structure and Furnishing,” brought together key players in the real estate industry, covering aspects from construction to interior decoration, lighting, and backup power services. The panel, comprising top and middle management representatives of sponsoring and exhibiting companies, facilitated an insightful discussion. Experts in the field, including Waylead’s Ace Property Consultant Sephin Siaw Soku, shared invaluable insights and details regarding property structure and furnishing. Sephin, with a decade of experience in the sale and management of luxurious properties, offered key considerations for property furnishing and emphasized the benefits of working with outsourced companies.
A preceding workshop tackled the crucial theme of “Land Acquisition: Do You Really Own the Land You Bought?” with the distinguished panel including Lawyer Kwame Gyan and heads of prominent companies such as Ecobank, Global Lighting, Saint Gorbain, Interplast, and C and J Technical Services. Lawyer Kwame Gyan shed light on land ownership nuances, discussed the pending real estate agency bill, and highlighted the need for its passage into law. Addressing concerns about land guards, Lawyer Gyan underscored that their conduct, rather than the profession itself, needs evaluation. The workshop also delved into the importance of the real estate agency bill in regulating the activities of agents, fostering a balance of interests between property owners and agents.
The Ecobank Mortgage Team took center stage, enlightening attendees on financing homes through mortgages. Emphasizing the necessity of professional engagement in property dealings, the team stressed the hazards of cutting corners when acquiring properties. They detailed the meticulous process of independent property searches for mortgage applicants and the progressive payment structure for real estate developers.
Remaining companies, including Global Lighting, Saint Gorbain, Interplast, and C and J Technical Services, showcased their products, services, and attractive discount packages. The culminating event, the exhibition at AICC, featured exhibitors from diverse real estate sectors offering enticing discounts of up to 40%. Notable participants included DBS, Global Lighting Solutions, Sintex Polytank, Virtual Infosec Africa, Springfield, Clifton Homes, Alphabet City, Airport City, and Saint Gobain. The Habitat Fair served as a pivotal platform for networking, knowledge exchange, and opportunities in the realm of homeownership and real estate.
